Antique Dolls of China & Bisque

Price: $69.00

The book is unread with mild shelf and handling wear such as light rubbing to the bottom edges of the boards. The dust jacket is not as crisp as that of a book that has never been handled. Small scratches and the occasional crease are possible and there is a short closed tear running down from the top edge of the dust jacket. The text is clean, bright, and unmarked. Having been a collector of antique dolls for many years, author Marjory Fainges knows that collectors want more information on who made their dolls, when and where. In this book she provides comprehensive coverage in words and pictures of china, parian and bisque dolls made in Germany, France, Britain, Japan and the United States from about 1880 to 1930. The author gives a short history of each maker and provides identification marks and even production numbers. There are well over 500 photographs, 160 of them in color. From the beautiful and elegant French Bébés to the wonderful bisque headed character dolls of the early decades of the 20th century to the mass produced rather poor quality 1930s Japanese dolls, all can be found in the pages of this book. For ease of identification the chapters are divided by material: china, parian, bisque. Within each chapter the manufacturers are arranged alphabetically and cross referenced whenever possible.; 160 pages
